Cultivating Quality and Empowerment

The Thuura Coffee Project is a cornerstone of our mission, transforming lives through sustainable agriculture and economic empowerment. Our project started with a vision to provide farmers with high-quality coffee seedlings and the necessary support to thrive in the coffee industry.

Coffee Nursery

Providing Quality Seedlings

We established the coffee nursery to ensure that local farmers have access to superior coffee seedlings. This initiative not only enhances the quality of coffee produced but also offers economic support to farmers who may not afford to buy seedlings from other sources. By providing these seedlings, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous and sustainable coffee farming community.

The Birth of the Coffee Farm

Turning Water into Opportunity

Once water became available for irrigation, the idea of a community coffee farm took root. With water as a vital resource, we could irrigate the fields and nurture the coffee plants, making our vision a reality.

Training and Support

Empowering Farmers

Our approach is comprehensive, focusing on both education and practical support. Initially, we selected 52 families for intensive training in the business of coffee farming and provided each family with 150 coffee plants. This foundational support enabled them to start their coffee farming journey on solid ground.

Building on this success, we expanded our training program to include 200 more families, each receiving the same level of training and support. This expansion has significantly increased the number of coffee plants in the ground, creating a robust and thriving coffee farming community.

Economic Transformation

Creating Sustainable Growth

With thousands of coffee plants now thriving and a direct market in the US identified, our community is poised for positive economic transformation. The income generated from coffee farming has freed up labor and resources, allowing families to invest in better opportunities for their children.

  • Improved Education: The economic benefits of the coffee project have a direct impact on the children of Thuura. With more stable incomes, families can afford to send their children to better schools, providing them with a brighter future.
  • Community Development: The success of the coffee project has ripple effects throughout the community. Increased incomes lead to better living standards, more infrastructure development, and a stronger, more resilient community.
